Jeff Grubb: Perfect Dark, Gears 6, and id Software updates

Friend of the site Jeff Grubb has just posted a video to his Game Mess channel with a lot of insider updates, including ones for Perfect Dark, Gears 6, and the potential next id Software game.

Perfect Dark

Jeff Grubb’s Game Mess channel’s latest video has a number of gaming news items. You can find the video HERE:

  • Perfect Dark is not in development hell. After talking with more people who have knowledge of the game they said that while it may be rough in some areas it looks great in others.
  • Perfect Dark may be at the June showcase
  • Gears 6 is still planned to be at the June Showcase although he’s not sure in what form as Xbox is determining “how aggressively” they want to be in presenting it.
  • id Software’s new game may be there. He’s unsure if it is DOOM or Quake though he would personally lean towards DOOM. This matches up with the teasing of Tom Warren who capitalized the word DOOM in his report about the recent studio closures.
  • A Sony PlayStation showcase should be happening later this month.
  • Ghost of Tsushima 2 is “taking longer than expected” because Sucker Punch is working on something else, he hopes it is a Sly Cooper title.
  • PlayStation should have Concord and a new Astrobot game at their show.
  • Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the 4th title in the series, is looking good and due to be released later in 2024.

This Perfect Dark news matches up with a recent leak from noted insider NateTheHate:

” According to respected insider “NateTheHate.” On his Xbox Direct podcast, where he discussed the week of news for the Microsoft subsidiary, he suggested that he had heard that not only was Perfect Dark not in trouble, but that he expected the game to be shown off at Xbox’s upcoming showcase.

His exact quote on the matter is, “At this point, I fully expect that we will see Perfect Dark next month, and that some of the more recent rumors may have outdated information perhaps… I have heard things this week that Perfect Dark is not in that bad state.”
