Air travelers departing Manila can expect flight delays as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Monday said it identified a potential problem with the software of the Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC).
In an advisory, CAAP said the potential problem was identified during the regular monitoring, and chose to implement longer separation of departing flights from Manila but also impacting traffic coming into the area.
“To ensure the safety of the flying public, CAAP decided to be conservative and manage the operations by providing longer separation of departing flights,” the advisory read.
“To repeat, communication and surveillance at the ATMC remain available and unaffected. Only departing flights are experiencing longer separation intervals,” it added.
In a separate advisory, CAAP said the ATMC issue was resolved past 2 pm on Monday, and that the flight operations were being restored, but it may take some time to clear up flight delays.
